Australia resume Day 4 at an overnight score of 479/5 in 139.0 Ovs (North 54* Haddin 4*).

Morning Session – Australia 1st Innings

Over 139.6: No runs. J Anderson to M North, short of length delivery, defends it off the backfoot.

Over 140.1: Boundary! S Broad to B Haddin , short of length delivery, strays onto the pads and Haddin happily puts that away to fine leg for a boundary.

Over 140.4: Boundary! S Broad to B Haddin , bangs it short, goes for a pull and ends up gloving it well out of the reach of Prior down the legside for a boundary.

Over 142.3: Boundary! S Broad to B Haddin , half volley, drives that wide one through covers for a boundary.

Over 143.5: Boundary! J Anderson to M North, short of length delivery, pulls that away with ease through wide mid wicket for a boundary.

Over 149.3: Boundary! A Flintoff to B Haddin , pitched up delivery, this time gets his placement right in his straight drive and the bal whistles to the right of the diving mid off for a boundary.

Over 150.6: Boundary! S Broad to M North, short of length delivery, allows the ball to come onto him and then guides it through vacant gully region for a boundary.

Over 152.1: Single. M Panesar to B Haddin , quicker and flatter in the air, thats onto the legs and gets pushed to mid on for a single that brings up the 50 of this stand.

Over 152.6: Single. M Panesar to B Haddin , quicker and flatter in the air, goes back and works it to deep mid wicket. And its time for Drinks.

Over 156.3: Two runs. M Panesar to B Haddin , quicker and flatter in the air, works that across past mid wicket for a couple. The lead goes past 100 with that.

Over 159.4: Boundary! G Swann to B Haddin , flatter trajectory delivery, thats the top spinner which is well picked by Haddin who guides that late past Prior’s gloves for a boundary.

Over 160.3: Three runs. M Panesar to B Haddin , quicker and flatter in the air, goes back and flicks it to deep mid wicket, gives an early call off two and ends up with three!

Over 161.2: Boundary! G Swann to M North, on the shorter side, that one turns sharply but is very wide and North cuts that away through covers for a boundary.

Over 162.1: Three runs. M Panesar to M North, on the shorter side, lots of spin and bounce in this but North does well to play a controlled cut through point for three runs.

Over 163.1: Single. A Flintoff to B Haddin , short and wide, drives that away through covers for a single. Flintoff has replaced Swann and is bowling with the third new ball.

Over 163.2: Boundary! A Flintoff to M North, short of length delivery, gets into two minds to leave it or play it and by then the ball glides off the face to the thirdman boundary to take North into the 90s.

Over 163.5: Boundary! A Flintoff to B Haddin , short of length delivery, backs away making room and plays a flat cut over point for a boundary.

Over 164.3: Two runs. J Anderson to M North, short and rising delivery, taps that across towards deep point and takes a couple to bring up his 2nd test century, he has gone past two fifties in his short career and both have been converted into 100s!

Over 165.2: Single. A Flintoff to B Haddin , good length delivery, drops it dead towards covers and takes a very risky single to bring up his third fifty.

Over 165.6: No runs. A Flintoff to B Haddin , short of length delivery, pushes it across to mid on. That’s lunch on Day 4, no wickets lost this morning. Australia stretch their lead to 142 runs with five wickets intact. Australia 577/5 in 166.0 Ovs (North 101* Haddin 50*)
Afternoon Session – Australia 1st Innings

Over 166.1: Single. J Anderson to M North, short of length delivery, loosener onto the pads and gets glanced to fine leg.

Over 168.3: Boundary! J Anderson to B Haddin , short and wide, cuts that away freely through point for a boundary.

Over 168.4: Boundary! J Anderson to B Haddin , good length delivery, stays back to try and cut that and ends up with a bottom edge that falls short of Prior and races away past slip for a boundary.

Over 168.5: Boundary! J Anderson to B Haddin , half volley, flicks that in the air over mid wicket for a boundary.

Over 169.4: Sixer! G Swann to B Haddin , flighted delivery, gets down on his knee and slog sweeps it high over mid wicket for a six that also brings up the 600 for Aus!

Over 170.5: Sixer! M Panesar to M North, flighted delivery, slog sweeps that high over mid wicket for a six.

Over 171.4: Three runs. G Swann to M North, quicker and flatter in the air, goes back and plays a delicate dab past slip and picks up three runs.

Over 172.6: Sixer! M Panesar to B Haddin , flighted delivery, steps out making room and lofts it straight over long on for a sweet six. That was a very difficult shot with Monty bowling a tight line outside the line of legstump.

Over 174.3: Single. P Collingwood to B Haddin , good length delivery, goes back and flicks it to deep mid wicket to take the lead to 200.

Over 178.1: Single. P Collingwood to B Haddin , good length delivery, thats onto the pads and Haddin flicks that to fine leg to bring up his 2nd hundred.

Over 178.2: Single. P Collingwood to M North, good length delivery, goes back and works it to deep mid wicket to bring up the 650. That ball was at just under 100 kmph.

Over 178.3: Boundary! P Collingwood to B Haddin , pitched up delivery, thats a lovely shot, clubbing that slower off cutter flat and wide towards wide long on for a boundary.

Over 178.4: Sixer! P Collingwood to B Haddin , pitched up delivery, thats a slower one right in the slot and Haddin swings it cleanly over long on for a six.

Over 180.3: Boundary! P Collingwood to B Haddin , pitched up delivery, swings hard at that and the ball goes high in the air towards mid wicket and just wide of Bopara for a boundary.

Over 180.5: Single. P Collingwood to M North, good length delivery, stays back and cuts it late to thirdman to bring up the 200 of this partnership.

Over 180.6: He is Caught! P Collingwood to B Haddin , pitched up delivery, goes for another big shot towards mid wicket but this times holes out to Bopara at the boundary. Australia have declared their first innings having got a lead of 239 runs. Australia 674/6 declared in 181.0 Ovs (North 125*)

Afternoon Session – England 2nd Innings

Over 0.2: Wide Ball. M Johnson to A Strauss, bangs it short, thats a horrible delivery sprayed wide towards the slip.

Over 1.5: Boundary! Ben Hilfenhaus to A Cook, short of length delivery, plays a thunderous pull shot towards mid wicket for a boundary. Infact on replay, Cook was lucky to get away with that flat shot which just went past the fielder at mid wicket!

Over 4.3: Out LBW! M Johnson to A Cook, pitched up delivery, angles the ball into the left hander for a change and Cook’s frontleg goes nowhere in his flick and is caught in the crease right infront of middle. Aleem Dar was quick to raise his finger!

Over 5.2: No runs. Ben Hilfenhaus to A Strauss, short of length delivery, let’s that go to the keeper outside the off stump. Lights have been switched on at Sophia Gardens.

Over 6.3: No runs. M Johnson to K Pietersen, pitched up delivery, digs out a slower one which ends up right in the batting crease. Rain just about to make its presence felt.

Over 6.6: Two runs. M Johnson to K Pietersen, pitched up delivery, that was an amazingly dangerous shot from KP, he shuffled across and flicked a near yorker right across to deep squareleg.

The rain has arrived and its also time for Tea. England trail by 219 runs in their 2nd innings with 8 wickets in hand. The big covers have been brought in by the groundstaff as the players leave for Tea. England 20/2 in 7.0 Ovs (Strauss 6* Pietersen 3*)

Final Session – England 2nd Innings

Play in the final session at Cardiff has been delayed due to rain. England are under tremendous pressure with a deficit of 219 having already lost two wickets.

Rain has abandoned play in the final session of Day 4 at Cardiff. England will have to face the survival test tomorrow to draw the match. They are trailing behind by 219 runs with 8 wickets in hand.
