Michael HusseyIn a major blow to Australia’s chances of retaining the World Cup, dependable middle order batsman – Michael Hussey has been withdrawn by the Selectors from the squad due to a hamstring injury! Australia who have won three World Cups in a row are now a weakened side compared to the previous editions as they are missing the likes of big performers like Gilchrist, Hayden, Symonds, McGrath and now Michael Hussey!

All is not over for the injured Michael Hussey who is desperate to play in the World Cup. The 35-year-old does have a chance of making it to the tournament if any of the Australian players gets ruled out due to an injury. Australia does have its worries with Ponting, Haddin and Steven Smith all recovering from their niggles.

Apart from Hussey, off spinner Nathan Hauritz has also been left out of the squad. Hauritz is suffering from a dislocated right shoulder. Callum Fergusson and Jason Krejza have been named as the respective replacements for Hussey and Hauritz.  The tall 28-year-old Jason Krejza comes back into the National side after quite a bit of gap and last he played was in the Test Series in India, 2008 where he had captured an 8-wicket haul in an innings at Nagpur.
