Australia’s skipper Ricky Ponting created a new cricketing history at the SCG today. Ponting who was on 98 punched off spinner Johan Botha through the off side to move to his 28th hundred during the final day’s play at the Sydney Cricket Ground. Ponting now becomes the ‘1st player in Cricket history to score centuries in both innings in 100th Test Match’. Six players including Ponting have the honour of scoring a hundred in their 100th Test Match and they are England’s Colin Cowdrey and Alec Stewart, West Indian Gordon Greenidge, Pakistan’s Javed Miandad and Inzamam-ul-Haq. The 31-year-old Ricky Ponting is now getting closer to Brian Lara’s 31 Test 100s and Sachin Tendulkar’s 35 Test 100s.
