The two Brads of the Australian team came good at the Warner Park to help their side complete an expected thrashing of the minnows. Netherlands got bundled out without much drama to be defeated by 229 runs in a Group A Match at St Kitts. Brad Hodge scored his maiden century today while the other Brad that is Hogg had taken four wickets.

Ponting won the toss early on to take first strike which saw Hayden and Gilchrist warming up themselves for bigger things. But that didn’t happen and the trio of Hayden, Gilchrist and Ponting missed out on scoring record breaking knocks. Michael Clarke and Brad Hodge saved the face with a 204-run stand for the fourth wicket that saw Australia get to an intimidating 358 for 5 in 50 Overs. South Africa had scored almost the same amount of runs in 10 overs lesser than that against the same opposition at this same venue! For Hodge, it was his first century with this one being his 15th ODI, he went onto smash 123 from 89 balls with 8 fours and 7 sixes! Michael Clarke failed in registering an easy century as he fell for 93 from 85 balls with 6 fours and 3 sixes. The bowling from Netherlands was sub standard towards the slog with lot of full tosses sprayed around.

In reply, the Dutch flattered to deceive early on putting on a quickfire 36 off 6.2 overs for the first wicket before the downfall started and were ultimately bundled out for 129. Their innings lasted little under 27 overs. Dan vaan Bunge was the top scorer for Netherlands with a run-a-ball 33 as the hapless Dutch collapsed like a pack of cards. The main wicket taker for Australia was Brad Hogg returning with fours wickets from just 4.5 overs. Brad Hodge was declared the Man of the Match.
