Mumbai Indians defeat Lions by 7 wickets

Mumbai Indians collected their first win of CLT20 2013 when they defeated Lions comfortably by 7 wickets with 9 balls to spare in the Group A match at Jaipur. The victory was set up by the Mumbai Indians bowlers who restricted Lions to a modest total of 140 for 5 in 20 overs.

Lions asked to bat first after losing the toss were struggling at 81 for 5 in the 14th over when Skipper Alviro Petersen and all-rounder Dwaine Pretorious got together in a rescue act. The duo added 59 runs for the unbroken 6th wicket stand to take their team to a respectable total. Petersen scored 35 not out from 27 balls while Pretorious scored 31* from 21 balls. Pragyan Ojha was the most successful bowler for Mumbai Indians taking 2 for 26.

Dwayne Smith anchored the run chase for Mumbai Indians by taking them home with an unbeaten 63 from 47 balls with 4 fours and 3 sixes. Kieron Pollard helped him finish the game with a 20-ball 31 not out.
