In the final Qualifying match of CLT20 2013, Otago Volts eased to a 5-wicket win over the strong Sunrisers Hyderabad (Scorecard) at the PCA Stadium in Mohali on Friday night. Otago Volts have finished on top of the round robin Qualifiers to enter the Group A of CLT20 2013 while Sunrisers make it to Group B.
Nathan McCullum was the Man of the Match
Otago won the toss and asked Sunrisers to bat first. The move of opening the bowling with off-spinner Nathan McCullum paid off for Otago as the in-form opening batsmen – Parthiv Patel and Shikhar Dhawan were dismissed by him cheaply. The Sunrisers’ batting looked weak with the loss of the openers early and an unbeaten knock of 57 (from 38 balls with 7 fours) from JP Duminy could at the most lift them to a respectable total of 143 for 5 in 20 overs. Nathan McCullum, who changed the complexion of the contest quite early with figures of 2 for 23 in 4 overs would later get the Man of the Match.
The run chase for Otago Volts was done and dusted in just 16.2 overs with Skipper Brendon McCullum going berserk with an unbeaten 67 from 39 balls with 5 fours and 5 sixes.
