M.R.Baig to write for Cricketfundas.com

Senior Cricket Coach M.R.Baig has expressed his willingness to contribute for Cricketfundas.com on a weekly basis. And that indeed is good news for cricket fanatics wanting to know the ‘FUNDAS’ of the game in and out. M.R.Baig is a former Ranji Trophy and Duleep Trophy Player for Services and North Zone respectively from 1958-70. He also became a Qualified Coach from the National Institute Of Sports, Patiala in 1962. He has been associated with the Ministry of External Affairs, Govt. of India as a Cricket Coach for Maldives under the ITEC Scheme.

One of the highlights in his coaching stint has been his association with the India U 19 squad that toured Sri Lanka in 1982. That team had the names of Ravi Shastri, Navjot Sidhu, Sadanand Vishwanath, L.Sivaramakrishnan, Chandrakanth Pandit and others. Guess what all the 15 players in that squad went on to play for India at the International level. M.R.Baig and Cricket in Andhra Pradesh have had a long association with the former rendering his wisdom to many cricketers like Md.Azharuddin, V.V.S.Laxman, M.S.K.Prasad and many others. He was the SAAP (Sports Association of Andhra Pradesh) Coach from 1991-2001. He was also the SAI (Sports Authority Of India) Coach from 1974-2001.
