Babar Azam, Hussain Talat power Pak to 82-run win in second T20I

Pakistan have taken an unassailable lead of 2-0 in their short 3-match T20 series against West Indies by winning the Pak vs WI 2nd T20 at Karachi 2018 at Karachi on Monday by 82 runs.

Batting first after winning the toss, Pakistan scored their highest ever total in T20Is – 205 for 3, two runs more than what they had scored in the previous night in the first T20I.

West Indies, who were shot out for 60 on Sunday, could only better their performance by scoring 123 all out in the second T20I. However, that was nowhere enough to compete in the match for the visitors.

It was a good start otherwise made by the West Indies in the match when Rayad Emrit bounced out Fakhar Zaman for 6 in the second over. Their joy was short-lived as Babar Azam and Hussain Talat – the Man of the Match in Sunday’s match, put up a partnership of 119 for the second wicket to lay the foundation for Pakistan.

Hussain Talat was dismissed in the 14th over for 63 from 41 balls (with 8 fours and a six). Babar Azam batted through the innings to score 97 not out from 58 balls with 13 fours and a six, missing out narrowly in becoming the second centurion for Pakistan in T20Is.

Pakistan finished with 205 for 3 in 20 overs courtesy of some sloppy fielding from the West Indians. In their chase, West Indies weren’t threatening to go at the target, although they looked solid at 50 for 1 in 8 overs. After that it was once again a pack of cards falling apart with batsmen walking back to the pavilion one after the other amid the increasing required run rate.

Opener Chadwick Walton was the top scorer with 40 from 29 balls. For Pakistan, speedster Mohammed Amir took 3 for 22 in his four overs, while Shadab Khan and Hussain Talat chipped in with a couple of wickets each. Babar Azam, as expected was the Man of the Match in the Pak vs WI 2nd T20 at Karachi 2018.
