Bowling first after winning the toss, Rajasthan Royals restricted Mumbai Indians to 168 for 6 with speedster Jofra Archer taking 2 for 16 in four overs while Ben Stokes came up with 4-0-26-2.
Mumbai Indians lost their way despite a solid start of 87 for 1 in 10.4 overs. Suryakumar Yadav scored 38 from 31 balls while Evin Lewis scored 60 from 42 balls with 4 fours and 4 sixes. Captain Rohit Sharma fell for a first ball duck to Jofra Archer while the in-form Ishan Kishan fell cheaply for 12.
Hardik Pandya chipped in with 36 from 21 balls with five sixes as Mumbai Indians collected 81 runs in the last 9.2 overs after the opening partnership was broken by Jofra Archer.

In their run chase, Rajasthan Royals lost D Arcy Short in the first over to Jasprit Bumrah. However, the run chase was sealed by two back-to-back partnerships of 95 and 61 for the second and third wicket which involved Jos Buttler.
Ajinkya Rahane scored 37 from 36 balls while Sanju Samson came up with 26 from 14 balls. Jos Buttler finished the match with his 95 not out coming in 53 balls with 9 fours and 5 sixes with this being his fifth consecutive IPL fifty, a feat that has been previously achieved by only Virender Sehwag.
With their sixth win in 12 matches, Rajasthan Royals have moved up to the fifth position in the IPL Points Table 2018 while IPL 2017 champions Mumbai Indians have spoilt their chances of the play-offs with their seventh defeat in 12 matches.
