England off to positive start in pursuit of SA’s 418

England are at 88 for 1 in 23 overs at Stumps on Day 2 of the opening Test at Centurion. Skipper Andrew Strauss is well set on an unbeaten 44 along with Jonathan Trott (18). Alastair Cook was nailed early by debutant pacer Friedel de Wet in the 6th over.

South Africa are in control of the game so far having posted a healthy first innings total of 418. The Proteas had started the day on 262 for 4. They lost Kallis (120) early but could get to a good total due to contributions from Duminy (56), Boucher (49) and Paul Harris (38).

For England, off spinner Graeme Swann bowled 45.2 overs to pick up a five-wicket haul. Graham Onions took three wickets in 30 overs.
