The opening match of the  2nd T20 World Cup is between England and Netherlands at Lord’s which is off to a delayed start due to rain. Toss is yet to happen and the news that we have so far is that Kevin Pietersen is out of this match with an injury.
 
Jeroen Smits, the Netherlands Skipper has won the toss and has put England to bat first. Conditions are overcast at Lord’s. England are without Kevin Pietersen who has been replaced with Robert Key. No overs have been cut.

Over 0.1: Boundary! Dirk Nannes to R Bopara, full toss, puts that wide attempted yorker to the left of point for a boundary!

Over 0.4: Boundary! Dirk Nannes to R Bopara, good length delivery, leans into the drive and uses the pace of the bowler to stroke that between point and covers for a boundary.

Over 1.1: Boundary! Edgar Schiferli to L Wright, half volley, thats down the legside and Wright flicks that away to square fine leg for a boundary.

Over 3.5: Boundary! Edgar Schiferli to R Bopara, good length delivery, gives it a wristy whack across the line to get a boundary to mid wicket, that was a flat strike from Bopara.

Over 4.6: Boundary! Ryan ten Doeschate to R Bopara, half volley, drives that with an open faced blade to get the ball through point and covers for a boundary.

Over 5.1: Boundary! Edgar Schiferli to L Wright, pitched up delivery, makes a bit of room and launches that over mid off for a boundary.

Over 12.6: Single. Peter Borren to L Wright, good length delivery, works it to deep mid wicket off the backfoot and brings up his fifty with the single.

Over 13.3: He is Caught! Edgar Schiferli to Owais Shah, pitched up delivery, shuffles across and plays a lovely pick up shot which sails straight into the hands of the fielder at deep squareleg!

Over 14.5: Boundary! Dirk Nannes to L Wright, short of length delivery, jumps out of the crease and slaps that through extra covers for a boundary.

Over 15.4: He is Caught! Peter Borren to Eoin Morgan, full toss, plays a reverse sweep that goes flat in the air and straight to the man at point!

Over 16.1: Boundary! Pieter Seelaar to P Collingwood, flatter trajectory delivery, steps out and chips it perfectly in the gap to sweeper covers for a boundary.

Over 16.5: Boundary! Pieter Seelaar to L Wright, flighted delivery, steps out and lofts it straight over the bowler’s head for a couple of bounce boundary.

Over 0.5: He is Caught! J Anderson to Alexei Kervezee, short of length delivery, goes for an ambitious pull shot and can only miscue it up in the air towards mid on where the fielder takes an easy catch.

Over 2.1: Boundary! J Anderson to Darron Reekers, pitched up delivery, plays a delightful flick shot to put that inswinger away to wide mid on for a boundary.

Over 2.3: Sixer! J Anderson to Darron Reekers, short of length delivery, plays a superb wristy short arm jab which sails flat over mid wicket for a six!

Over 3.3: He is Caught! S Broad to Darron Reekers, short and rising delivery, goes for the big shot and is done in by the extra bounce, its a simple catch taken at mid wicket by Owais Shah.

Over 3.5: Boundary! S Broad to Tom de Grooth, pitched up delivery, eases that sweetly between point and covers for a boundary.

Over 5.1: Boundary! S Broad to Tom de Grooth, bangs it short, pulls that away handsomely in the air to beat the diving fielder at deep mid wicket for a boundary.

Over 4.6: Four Leg Byes! R Sidebottom to Bas Zuiderent, pitched up delivery, gets a deflection off his thigh pad that beats the keeper for a boundary.

Over 5.4: Boundary! S Broad to Bas Zuiderent, pitched up delivery, gets an inside edge in his drive that beats short fine leg for a boundary.

Over 5.6: Sixer! S Broad to Tom de Grooth, good length delivery, jumps down the track and drags it sweetly over the bowler’s head for a six, that was a slower one from Broad.

Over 6.2: Boundary! Adil Rashid to Tom de Grooth, flatter trajectory delivery, plays a superb reverse sweep off the backfoot that sails over the top of backward point for a boundary.

Over 8.1: Stumped Out! Adil Rashid to Bas Zuiderent, flighted delivery, drags him out of the crease with a teasing leg break and has him stranded with the big turn, Foster does the rest with his stumping.

Over 15.6: He is Caught! J Anderson to Peter Borren, bangs it short, goes for the pull shot and can only miscue it towards fine leg where Owais Shah takes an easy catch. 30 more runs needed to win from 24 balls.

Over 16.4: Boundary! Adil Rashid to Daan van Bunge, flatter trajectory delivery, steps out and smashes that past covers for a boundary! The last ball was not a boundary as Key just managed to pull it back inside the rope, three runs were scored.

Over 16.3: Boundary! Adil Rashid to Ryan ten Doeschate, flighted delivery, makes room and edges it over short thirdman for a lucky boundary. 25 from 21.

Over 19.2: Single. S Broad to Edgar Schiferli, pitched up delivery, digs the yorker to the right of Broad and they go for a desperate single, Broad dived with the ball onto the stumps and disturbs it with his hand and not the ball! 5 runs needed to win from 4 balls.

Over 19.3: Single. S Broad to Daan van Bunge, full toss, heaves that straight to Broad who puts down a simple overhead catch! 4 runs from 3 balls.

Over 19.6: Two runs. S Broad to Edgar Schiferli, pitched up delivery, drags the yorker to the right of the bowler who stops that but fails to hit the stumps from just 5 yards! Netherlands get the second run thanks to the over throw! Netherlands win by 4 wickets.
