South Africa gave a sound trashing to England in the second T20I by defeating them with a margin of 84 runs. Graeme Smith and Loots Bosman continued from where they had left at the Wanderers with another terrific opening stand, this time putting on a record 170 in 13.1 overs. South Africa smashed 241 for 6 with Smith scoring 88 from 44 balls and Bosman even better with 94 from 45 balls. Bosman got the Man of the Match for this brilliant knock which contained as many as 9 sixes.

England were led by Alastair Cook as Collingwood sat out because of a back injury. They were boosted by the return of Kevin Pietersen who played a cameo of 29 from 19 balls. Jonatthan Trott scored 51 from 40 balls but no other batsmen could deliver the goods to chase down such a monstrous target. England finished at a weak 157 for 8 in the allotted 20 overs.
