World T20 Betting Preview

Two years have passed since the last World T20 that was held in Bangladesh, and now we return for the sixth edition on the subcontinent only this time in India. The top eight nations are waiting for the final two teams to be revealed through a round-robin qualifying competition that will compete with them in the Super 10 stage.

Bookies have long ago posted the odds and as the tournament unfolds they constantly change. Changing odds can cause great headaches for bettors so why not relieve that stress with some mindless fun at http://www.mobilecasinosafari.com/casinos/gday-casino.htm and with some online pokies at  https://www.casinoaus.com.au/online-pokies/.

The teams that are expected to clear the first hurdle are Zimbabwe and Bangladesh, and at the moment of writing of this article it seems that Afghanistan will pose as the biggest problem to Zimbabwe’s road to Super 10. Two games into the qualifying round have passed and Zimbabwe and Afghanistan have both 2 wins after 2 matches. This has caused for the odds to be the same for both teams.

If you want to bet that Zimbabwe or Afghanistan will win Group B, you can place a bet at 10/11. The odds for Group B winner are still far away in favour of Bangladesh (1/11) as compared to Oman (13/2) the second favourite. For now according to bookmakers there are no hopes for Ireland, Netherlands, Scotland and Hong Kong.

Bangladesh was and still is considered by far the best side in the qualifying groups. They have vast experience with five players that played in their sixth World T20. Plus, they outperformed Sri Lanka and Pakistan in the Asia Cup. But, their T20 record is not good and goes against them. The odds for them to reach the semi-final are 13/2, the same as Zimbabwe’s and Afghanistan’s

In the Super 10 stage the odds for Sri Lanka are not good at all. Much has changed since they won the last tournament two years ago in Bangladesh. Sangakkara and Jayawardene have left two huge voids in the team, which has a miserable run in form. Bookies hardly expect for Sri Lanka to win more than 1 game therefore their odds to win become champions again are 25, the highest from all the Super 10 teams.

The teams that are favourites at the tournament are the host India and Australia. The World T20 is the one major tournament that has eluded the Aussies so far. Australia has a capable squad that can go all the way and the bookies have given them the odds of 5, while India’s odds stand at 11/5. However, in the To Be Undefeated prediction India has the better odds of 7/2 compared to Australia (7), which means the bookies predict India will be better in the clash with the Aussies in Group 2. This also makes them a favourite to win Group 2, although the odds for that vary. Some bookies have given Australia the better odds to win Group 2.

South Africa on the other hand has a 90% win rate over the past 12 months which makes them favourites in the same range as England. They have the third best odds to be the T20 winners with odds 11/2, while the English stand at 15/2. South Africa had two wins over India, the tournament favourite, and they have plenty of reason to be optimistic that they can dominate Group 1 where they also have the better odds (7/4) over England (5/2) and the West Indies (3). If they can avoid panic stations, they can do great as expected.

The English are considered the dark horses of the tournament with an eclectic mix of youngsters hungry to prove that they belong in the elite. The batting looks dangerous with Alex Hales among one of the favourites to be the top batsman (16) and the bowling is impressive with the likes of Adil Rashid and Reece Topley. Adil Rashid is one of the favourites for the Top Tournament Bowler bet with odds at 20.

The West Indies are a picture for themselves with many player withdrawals and disputes, so their prospects are not really hopeful, compared to New Zealand’s who are right there behind England concluding the top 5 favourites to win the tournament with odds at 10.
