Former India Captain Rahul Dravid has been requested to join the Indian team in England to give guidance to the batsmen. Rahul Dravid is expected to play the role of a mentor to the young Indian batsmen. The team has just three players who had played Test Cricket in England before and that small list includes Captain MS Dhoni, Gautam Gambhir and Ishant Sharma.

On the request of Coach Duncan Fletcher and MS Dhoni, Rahul Dravid has been asked to assist the team through his enormous knowledge about batting, especially in English conditions. This will be the first time that Rahul Dravid will be associated with the Indian team following his retirement in 2012. Dravid since then has been a mentor of the Rajasthan Royals’ team in the Indian Premier League.

Rahul Dravid had made his Test Debut in England during the 1996 tour. He along with Sourav Ganguly emerged as the new batting superstar for India during that period. In India’s previous tour of England in 2011, Rahul Dravid stood out with three centuries in an otherwise disappointing 0-4 series defeat. Dravid had also led India to a rare Test Series win in 2007. Apart from scoring six Test centuries in England, Rahul Dravid also has the experience of playing for Kent in the County Circuit.
