Brendon McCullum scored a career best of 281 not out which is his third double century. All the three double centuries from Brendon McCullum have come against India, two of them scored in this series.

New Zealand have secured the 2nd Test Match at Wellington and also the 2-match series from their side and at the close of Day 4 find themselves with an opportunity to win as well. The hosts are leading by 325 runs with still five wickets in hand. India can now only hope of saving the match which is possible if the Kiwis continue to bat on the final day. New Zealand surely will continue to bat with Brendon McCullum having the opportunity to register his country’s first triple century in Test Cricket.

The Indian bowlers could get only one wicket on the fourth day that too with the third new ball and having conceded a record 352-run partnership for the 6th wicket. Wicket Keeper BJ Watling slammed his 3rd Test century while breaking the World Record for the 6th wicket alongside his Skipper Brendon McCullum.

The McCullum-Watling partnership started when the Kiwis were reeling at 94 for 5 with a possibility of an innings defeat staring at that. BJ Watling got out only in the final session of the fourth day after scoring 124 from 367 balls with 13 fours. Mohammed Shami got his wicket with an inswinger that had him lbw.

By the close of play, Brendon McCullum marched to 281 not out from 525 balls with 28 fours and 4 sixes. James Neesham is giving him company on 67* (from 96 balls with 9x4s). At stumps on Day 4, New Zealand are 571 for 6 in 189 overs.
