Brendon McCullum played a remarkable Captain’s knock to rescue New Zealand in the 2nd Test at the Basin Reserve in Wellington. The New Zealand Captain carries his fight along with Wicket Keeper BJ Watling to the fourth day with the Kiwis leading by 6 runs with still five wickets in hand.

India was doing pretty good before McCullum and BJ Watling had got together. They picked up an early wicket with Kane Williamson edging Zaheer Khan to MS Dhoni for 7. Opener Hamish Rutherford (35) too was dismissed by the Zaheer Khan-MS Dhoni combination. Debutant Tom Latham did well to get to 29 but got out edging an away going delivery from Mohammed Shami to the Indian Captain.

Ravindra Jadeja found some luck removing Corey J Anderson with his short ball holding onto the surface and producing a leading edge back to the bowler. India dropped a couple of catches after that of Brendon McCullum to squander the advantage! New Zealand from 94 for 5 finished Day 3 at 252 for 5 in 99 overs.

Brendon McCullum, who hit his 9th Test century, is on 114 from 237 balls with 14 fours and a six. BJ Watling is on 52 not out which has come in 208 balls with 4 fours.
