Shikhar Dhawan regained his form by scoring a majestic 2nd Test century during the decisive fourth day’s play in the First ANZ Test at Auckland. Dhawan got through a fabulous partnership of 126 with Virat Kohli to keep India in the contest chasing a tall target of 407.

India are in a nice shape to create history as they are well placed at 248 for 3 at the time of this report. Rohit Sharma is batting pretty well on 17 while Shikhar Dhawan is on 115.

The visitors lost Cheteshwar Pujara early in the morning when he nicked a seaming delivery from Tim Southee on the backfoot. India overcame the early blow thanks to the great partnership between Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli. The Indian no.4 got out after lunch, bottom edging a pull shot to the keeper off Neil Wagner. Kohli batted very well for his crucial knock of 67 (from 102 balls with 12 fours).

The greatness of Shikhar Dhawan’s knock is that he is the only Indian opener to have scored a Fourth Innings Century Overseas after Sunil Gavaskar way back in 1979! Thanks to Shikhar Dhawan’s fabulous knock, India have got the target down to 159 with 7 wickets in hand.

Update at 7:43 AM IST: New Zealand have struck with Neil Wagner removing Shikhar Dhawan for 115. It was a good short ball and Shikhar Dhawan could only glove it behind to the keeper.
