Indian batting flopped for the second time in a row and with that has surrendered the 3-match series to hosts South Africa. Having conceded 280 runs in 49 overs, India faltered quite early in the run chase with the top order failing to get going. The tourists were bowled out for a modest total of 146 in 35.1 overs. While India lost the First ODI by 141 runs, this time the margin of defeat was only slightly better at 134 runs.

The steep run chase for India was derailed by Shikhar Dhawan’s flashy drive on the up off Dale Steyn. Like his Delhi Teammate, Virat Kohli also was out without scoring a single run. All hopes on the Mumbai duo of Rohit Sharma and Ajinkya Rahane also faded as they departed by the completion of the mandatory powerplay.

The run chase was given up by India at 34 for 4. Skipper MS Dhoni and Suresh Raina ensured that the team was going to cross three figures with their tiny partnership. While Dhoni scored 19, Suresh Raina looked quite impressive in his 36 before he got out to a blinder of a catch at extra covers by David Miller. Ravindra Jadeja too showed some sparkle, hitting the giant Morne Morkel for a mighty six but could only settle with a cameo of 26 from 34 balls.

South Africa wrapped up the Indian innings without much fuss with Lonwabo Tsotsobe taking four wickets and Dale Steyn taking three. The fielding from South Africa was fabulous with Hashim Amla, Quinton de Kock, David Miller and Skipper AB de Villiers plucking great catches.

For his dominating century, Quinton de Kock was adjudged as the Man of the Match. The final match of this series will be played at the Centurion on the 11th.
