Mumbai Indians marched into the Final of the IPL 3 beating Royal Challengers Bangalore at the DY Patil Stadium by 35 runs in the first Semi Final. Batting first after winning the toss, Mumbai Indians were in deep trouble at 77 for 4 in the 10th over before being rescued by the pair of AT Rayudu (40 from 38 balls) and Saurabh Tiwary (52* from 31 balls with 3 fours and 4 sixes). The two batsmen put on a crucial 67 runs stand for the fifth wicket before Kieron Pollard unleashed an unbeaten cameo of 33 from 13 balls (with 1 four and 3 sixes) to lift Mumbai Indians to a superb 184 for 5.

For the RCB, Kevin Pietersen bowled well for his 1 for 20 after getting the ball to turn and bounce sharply. RCB in the tournament has proved to be a chasing specialist but this time they choked big time to come a distant second. They managed a weak 149 for 9 chasing the 185 with none of the batsmen firing. The top scorer of the innings was Ross Taylor with an unbeaten 31 from 30 balls.

Pollard walked away with the Man of the Match as he managed mean figures of 3 for 17 in 4 overs along with his batting efforts. Mumbai Indians now meet the winner of the Semi Final match between Deccan Chargers and Chennai Super Kings.
