Bad boy Sreesanth in India Test Squad; Zaheer comes back after injury

Controversial fast bowler Shanthakumaran Sreesanth has made a dramatic return back to the Indian team after getting picked in the 15-man squad to face Sri Lanka in the first two Tests. The 26-year-old Sreesanth had been sidelined from the Indian team due to an injury followed up by controversises on and off the field. He last played for India in April 2008. Sreesanth this season hasn’t mended his ways and was put on a final warning from the BCCI followed up by a warning from his own board – Kerala Cricket Association for not attending the Ranji Camps. Sreesanth was made the Skipper of the Kerala Ranji team to earn a place back in the National team according to the KCA.

India has been strenghtened by the inclusion of left arm pacer Zaheer Khan who missed plenty of ODI Cricket due to a shoulder injury. The Selectors have named only three pacers in the squad in Zaheer, Ishant and Sreesanth. Ashish Nehra, Munaf Patel, RP Singh and others were out of favour. Likewise, three spinners were picked with Hyderabad’s left armer Pragyan Ojha joining Harbhajan Singh and Amit Mishra.

A couple of reserve batsmen in Murali Vijay and S Badrinath (both from Tamil Nadu) have been named in the 15-man squad led by MS Dhoni. The first Test is at Motera in Ahmedabad from the 16th of this month.
