Bengal faltered on the final day having resumed at 319 for 2 chasing Saurashtra’s mamoth first innings total of 650. The hosts were bowled out for 456 with only Rohan Gavaskar holding fort for them on the final day with a 142-ball 44. Sourav Ganguly failed scoring just 16. Ravindra Jadeja came good with the ball taking four wickets. Saurashtra enforced the follow on and Bengal easily saved the game with a score of 135 for 1. Opener Arindam Das struck an unbeaten 63 while one down  bat Deep Dasgupta got 52.
