Brett Lee out of India Series with Elbow Injury!

Australia’s ace fast bowler Brett Lee has been ruled out of the ongoing 7-ODI Series against India because of an elbow injury. Lee is set to return home like wicket keeper Tim Paine. Cricket Australia is yet to name a replacement for Lee.

Brett Lee was in trouble in the 1st ODI at Vadodara itself as he couldn’t bowl more than two spells of three overs each. As a result of Lee’s unavailability, Australia almost lost an already won match with the pair of Harbhajan Singh and Praveen Kumar smashing the rest of the bowlers. Lee missed the Second ODI at Nagpur and the Aussies leaked as many as 354 runs! He was replaced with Ben Hilfenhaus in the playing XI who failed to sustain any amount of pressure on the Indian batsmen. The Aussies have a reserve fast bowler in Doug Bollinger who could get a game in Delhi. They also have the in-form Moises Henriques to chip in with some medium pace for tomorrow’s third ODI.

Its an irony that Lee was boasting of a 7-0 whitewash to the Indians prior to the series but the Aussies were defeated comprehensively in the second ODI and could hold on to a narrow 4-run win in the first ODI. And now Lee has to return home back midway from the challenge.
