Cape Cobras happily lose to Delhi Daredevils

Cape Cobras certainly didn’t mind losing their League Match against the Delhi Daredevils and its a possibility that they were more than happy to get defeated today. The reason was that they would finish runners-up in the League B behind Victoria and their Semi-Final match will be at a true batting surface in Hyderabad. On the other hand, Victoria will have to play their Semis at the wicked pitch at Delhi where scoring runs  has been a very difficult task.

Cobras surprisingly put Daredevils to bat first after losing the toss despite knowing that the wicket was only going to become slower and lower. Perhaps that was one way of lessening their chances of a victory. Daredevils were struggling to get going at 46 for 4 in the 10th over but in the end could come up with a modest total of 114 for 6. Owais Shah anchored the innings with an unbeaten 39 from 38 balls. Earlier, Dinesh Karthik (23) seemed to be in the form of his life having smashed a hat-trick of boundaries before his innings was robbed by a bad call from Owais Shah.

The South African side showed no intensity in their chase and it kept on losing wickets at regular intervals. They were bowled out for a paltry 84 in 18.3 overs leaving Delhi Daredevils with a consolation win of 20 runs. This was despite the homeside resting key players like Sehwag, McGrath and Nehra.
