Sri Lanka have won the toss and asked India to bat first in the 1st ODI at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack. Angelo Mathews, the Sri Lankan Captain stated that the dew will be a major factor in the evening which has promoted him to bowl first. India Skipper Virat Kohli stated that he too wanted to bowl first had he won the toss because of the dew factor later in the evening.

India have rested Ravindra Jadeja and Amit Mishra for this opening ODI of the Micromax Cup 2014 at Cuttack. Ishant Sharma along with Varun Aaron and Umesh Yadav forms the pace trio for the homeside. Suresh Raina is playing his 200th ODI for India.
For Sri Lanka, 26-year-old medium pacer Lahiru Gamage makes his ODI debut taking the place of Nuwan Kulasekara. Off-spinner Suraj Randiv makes a comeback taking the vacant place left by Rangana Herath.
The pitch at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack is full of cracks so the ball is expected to turn besides staying low. However, the cracks are expected to hold together with this being only a one-dayer, so batting wise it may not be a huge problem. Pressure will be on India to score some extra runs to cover up for the dew factor.
