England defeated India by six wickets in the only T20I Match at Old Trafford in Manchester. Batting first after winning the toss, India with a new look team was bowled out for 165 in 19.4 overs despite a neat half century from debutant opener Ajinkya Rahane (61 from 39 balls with 8 fours). Rahul Dravid, the other debutant scored 31 from 21 balls with three consecutive sixes and Suresh Raina chipped in with a 19-ball 33 (with 2 fours and 3 sixes). But India lost its way because of losing too many wickets in a bunch.

Pacer Jade Dernbach got plenty of bounce out of a slow pitch to capture an impressive 4 for 22. England in their run chase were nicely placed with Kevin Pietersen providing the early momentum with a 23-ball 33 with 5 fours. Eoin Morgan kept the momentum going with a superb 49 from 27 balls (with 7 fours and a six). The match went into the final over with England needing 10 to win. But a poor last over from Vinay Kumar eased England to the win with three balls to spare.

Ravi Bopara (31* from 36 balls) and Samit Patel (25* from 16 balls) kept their cool to finish the match in style for the hosts. Jade Dernbach got the Man of the Match.
