Former Captain Rahul Dravid has yet again been dropped from the Indian ODI Squad despite a decent show from the right hander in the ICC Champions Trophy. The Selectors picked a 15-man squad today for the first two ODIs of the 7-match series against Australia starting this month. India’s team has been strengthened by the comeback of the explosive duo of Virender Sehwag and Yuvraj Singh who are returning back after injuries.

Facing the axe like Dravid were Yusuf Pathan and RP Singh. Yusuf Pathan hasn’t yet lived to his potential so far at the international level while RP Singh has lost about 15kmph of pace and has looked lacklustre. Another fast bowler who has been really struggling – Ishant Sharma has been retained.

The Selectors have given a break to 22-year-old Sudeep Tyagi of Uttar Pradesh. Tyagi, who has also represented Chennai Super Kings is a tall lanky fast bowler capable of generating quite a lot of pace and bounce from most of the tracks. There is also a comeback for Ravindra Jadeja and Munaf Patel in the squad.

India Squad for the first two ODIs : MS Dhoni (C&WK), Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina, Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja, Harbhajan Singh, Ashish Nehra, Munaf Patel, Sudeep Tyagi, Praveen Kumar, Ishant Sharma, Amit Mishra
