The West Indies selectors are hoping it will be a case of successful brother bonding, when they host India in a one-day series starting later this month.

Darren Bravo will join his more well-known sibling Dwayne for the four-match series, after impressing for Trinidad and Tobago in domestic cricket this season.

The 20-year-old scored over 600 runs for T&T and could be handed the task of finding some much-needed runs in the Windies batting line-up in the limited-overs form of the game.

Darren is a left-handed middle-order batsman who is yet to feature for his country, but may get a chance against one of the best 50-over teams in the world at present in India.

Bravo junior’s inclusion may see Shivnarine Chanderpaul and Ramnaresh Sarwan pushed further up the order to offer more support for skipper Chris Gayle.

After struggling for consistency at the World Twenty20, batsman Lendl Simmons and all-rounder Kieron Pollard have been left out of the 13-man party for the upcoming series.

Narsingh Deonarine has been selected, after being the leading run-scorer in the four-day domestic Caribbean competition, and he may play his first ODI since 2007.

The tourists have lost just two of their nine completed ODIs in 2009 but they were beaten in their last one-day series in the Caribbean – going down 4-1 in 2006.

India will be also be without four of their top stars for the tour, with Sachin Tendulkar (finger), Zaheer Khan (shoulder), Virender Sehwag (shoulder) and Suresh Raina (thumb) all missing through injury.

Two familiar faces are set to get their chance though, with paceman Ashish Nehra returning after a four-year absence and RP Singh’s good performances in the IPL have also seen him included in the 16-man squad.

The series gets underway on June 26 in Jamaica, which will also host the second ODI on June 28, with the final two matches taking place in St Lucia on July 3 and 5.
