Hello folks, welcome back to Match 3 of the Compaq Cup with Sri Lanka taking on India. The Lankans have won the toss and elected to bat first and that’s a huge advantage on this slow wicket at the RPS.

Thilan Samaraweera is not playing today and has been replaced with Kapugedera. India remains the same team from yesterday.

Sri Lanka Innings

Over 0.1: Boundary! Ashish Nehra to T Dilshan, short and wide, easy pickings, Dilshan gets all the liberty to free his arms and he pulls it over backward point for a boundary. This is a new surface being used for this match!

Over 0.3: Boundary! Ashish Nehra to T Dilshan, pitched up delivery, great start for SL, Dilshan drives it straight down the ground past the Umpire for a boundary! Nice wristy shot that was.

Over 1.6: Boundary! R P Singh to S Jayasuriya, good length delivery, gets forward and blasts that over covers for a boundary.

Over 2.6: Boundary! Ashish Nehra to T Dilshan, short and wide, plays a thrashing cut past point for a boundary.

Over 3.1: Boundary! R P Singh to S Jayasuriya, half volley, drives it wristily between the bowler and the non striker for a boundary.

Over 4.3: Boundary! I Sharma to S Jayasuriya, good length delivery, looks to drive it on the up but the ball holds onto the surface and its a thick edge that flies between slip and gully for a boundary.

Over 6.5: Boundary! I Sharma to T Dilshan, short and rising delivery, hooks it just wide of the man at square fine leg for a one bounce boundary. That brings up the 50 for SL.

Over 7.2: Boundary! R P Singh to S Jayasuriya, short and rising delivery, goes for the pull, rather a short arm jab, the ball does stop onto him but he has enough power to club it over wide mid wicket for a boundary.

Over 8.4: He is Caught! I Sharma to T Dilshan, short of length delivery, thats the perfect leg cutter from Ishant and Dilshan is in the flow of playing at everything and he can only nick his forcing drive to the keeper.

Over 9.1: Boundary! R P Singh to S Jayasuriya, good length delivery, lifts it just over the top of a flying Nehra at mid off for a boundary.

Over 9.3: Boundary! R P Singh to S Jayasuriya, bangs it short, has enough time to rock back and pull it over mid wicket for a one bounce boundary.

Over 9.6: Boundary! R P Singh to S Jayasuriya, bangs it short, pulls it over the fielder at mid wicket for a boundary. The bowling powerplay may be held back by MSD.

Over 10.2: Boundary! I Sharma to M Jayawardene, good length delivery, edges it just past Tendulkar at slip for a boundary. That was safely played on the frontfoot with soft hands.

Over 12.3: Boundary! I Sharma to M Jayawardene, short and rising delivery, plays an upper cut to that leg cutter which flies comfortably over slip for a boundary.

Over 14.5: Stumped Out! Y Pathan to M Jayawardene, flatter trajectory delivery, beats him with the turn past the legstump, Mahela missed his flick and overbalanced ever so slightly for a fraction of a second. An alert MSD whipped the bails off in a flash and Mahela’s backleg was just a few millimeters above the ground! Tough decision given by the TV Umpire.

Over 17.4: Out LBW! Harbhajan to K Sangakkara, flighted delivery, plays along the wrong line in his forward defence and is hit on the back pad infront of middle. That one didn’t turn away as expected by Sanga. Dharmasena gave a daring decision and it was a good one!

Over 19.1: Single. Harbhajan to S Jayasuriya, flighted delivery, goes back and cuts it away to deep point to bring up his 68th ODI fifty, his 14th ODI fifty against India, and his first one in 8 ODIs.

Over 20.4: Boundary! Yuvraj to S Jayasuriya, dragged way too short, that’s a long hop, pulls it in the air and the ball is dangerously close to Karthik at deep mid wicket but is lucky to beat him for a boundary.

Over 20.5: Boundary! Yuvraj to S Jayasuriya, dragged way too short, that’s a long hop, another gift and this time Sanath pulls it comfortably wide of RP at deep squareleg for a one bounce boundary.

Over 23.5: Boundary! Harbhajan to S Jayasuriya, flighted delivery, gets forward and blasts this flat over the infield for a boundary to extra covers.

Over 25.3: Boundary! Ashish Nehra to S Jayasuriya, short of length delivery, gets inside the line and flicks it very fine behind the stumps for a boundary.

Over 26.1: Boundary! Y Pathan to S Jayasuriya, flighted delivery, sweeps it hard along the ground to deep squareleg and RP Singh completely misfields that, beaten by the turn to leak a boundary.

Over 26.3: Boundary! Y Pathan to S Jayasuriya, flatter trajectory delivery, thats down the legside and Sanath paddles it past Dravid at short fine leg for another boundary.

Over 27.3: Boundary! Ashish Nehra to Angelo Mathews, bangs it short, pulls it superbly in the air towards wide mid wicket for a boundary.

Over 29.1: Out LBW! Ashish Nehra to Angelo Mathews, short of length delivery, century goes down begging, not sure of this lbw decision from Dharmasena! Sanath shuffled way too acrss and got hit on the backpad by a low bouncing cutter just outside the line. Or perhaps it was just infront of off stump!

Over 30.3: Stumped Out! S Raina to Angelo Mathews, flatter trajectory delivery, steps out and closes the face of the blade too soon in his flick, he misses the straighter one which is collected behind for an easy easy stumping. Mathews almost ran a long way out of his crease with that flick.

Over 32.5: Boundary! S Raina to Thilina Kandamby, flatter trajectory delivery, goes back and cuts it behind point for a boundary.

Over 35.5: Boundary! R P Singh to Thilina Kandamby, short and rising delivery, dabs it delicately wide of the keeper for a boundary to thirdman.

Over 40.2: Boundary! Harbhajan to C Kapugedera, flatter trajectory delivery, plays a solid reverse sweep that races away behind point for a boundary.

Over 41.5: Boundary! Y Pathan to Thilina Kandamby, flighted delivery, makes room and lofts it inside out over extra covers for a boundary.

Over 43.1: Boundary! Ashish Nehra to C Kapugedera, good length delivery, shuffles across and flicks the slower one behind square for a boundary.

Over 46.1: Run Out at the Non Striker’s end! I Sharma to C Kapugedera, pitched up delivery, drives the yorker to RP at covers and takes off for a single but for once its a strong direct throw which breaks this partnership!

Over 46.4: Boundary! I Sharma to Thilina Kandamby, short and rising delivery, backs away and plays a pull which produces a top edge which flies away to the fine leg boundary and he has brought up his 3rd ODI fifty.

Over 46.5: Boundary! I Sharma to Thilina Kandamby, pitched up delivery, makes room and drives it magically through point for a boundary.

Over 47.4: Boundary! Ashish Nehra to Thilina Kandamby, full toss, heaves it over mid wicket for a boundary.

Over 48.1: Boundary! R P Singh to Thilina Kandamby, good length delivery, shuffles across and paddles it in the air over short fine leg for a boundary.

Over 0.4: Five Wides! N Kulasekara to D Karthik, good length delivery, slips the inswinger way down the legside and India open their account with these freebies.

Over 1.1: Boundary! T Thushara to D Karthik, short and wide, cuts it over the top of point for an easy boundary.

Over 1.4: Boundary! T Thushara to S Tendulkar, good length delivery, thats a gift down the legside and Sachin sensibly glances that to fine leg for a boundary, didn’t try to over hit that.

Over 2.2: Boundary! N Kulasekara to D Karthik, short of length delivery, drops it a yard shorter and DK swivels back and plays an aggressive pull wide of mid on for a boundary.

Over 4.4: Boundary! N Kulasekara to S Tendulkar, short of length delivery, flicks it across with the angle to squareleg and the timing and placement are perfect to send it away to the boundary.

Over 5.4: He is Caught! T Thushara to D Karthik, short and rising delivery, tries to pull it away fine to the fine leg boundary but can only glove it down the legside to Sanga!

Over 8.5: Boundary! N Kulasekara to S Tendulkar, pitched up delivery, miscues his lofted shot but has enough force and elevation to clear mid off for a boundary.

Over 9.5: Boundary! T Thushara to S Tendulkar, short of length delivery, plays a wristy flick through squareleg for a boundary.

Over 10.5: Boundary! N Kulasekara to S Tendulkar, pitched up delivery, thats down the legside, and Sachin delicately works the leg cutter past the keeper for a boundary.

Over 13.3: Boundary! L Malinga to R Dravid, full toss, flicks it superbly wide of mid on for his first boundary.

Over 14.1: He is Caught! N Kulasekara to S Tendulkar, short of length delivery, goes for a backfoot drive and the ball just stops on him and Sachin ends up lobbing a catch to mid on.

Over 14.4: Boundary! N Kulasekara to Yuvraj , full toss, walks down the track and heaves it flat over the bowler’s head for a six!! Well not the ball just bounced infront of the ropes.

Over 15.3: Boundary! L Malinga to Yuvraj , short and wide, edges his flashy shot just past the lone slip and gets a useful boundary.

Over 18.3: Boundary! T Dilshan to R Dravid, flatter trajectory delivery, clears his frontfoot slightly and slog sweeps it brilliantly in the gap between mid wicket and long on for a one bounce boundary.

Over 18.4: Sixer! T Dilshan to R Dravid, flatter trajectory delivery, Dravid gets even better, sits down again and goes almighty big with this slog sweep that sails high over long on for a six!

Over 19.6: He is Caught! L Malinga to Yuvraj , short and wide, and this time Malinga is lucky! Yuvraj is stuck in the crease and plays a cut, the pace off Malinga forces the nick which is caught behind.

Over 20.4: He is Caught! Angelo Mathews to S Raina, good length delivery, Raina tries to play a cute shot to thirdman but its a slower one which doesn’t provide any pace and its caught brilliantly by Sanga to his left.

Over 21.1: Boundary! L Malinga to R Dravid, half volley, flicks that attempted inswinging yorker to fine leg for a boundary.

Over 24.5: Bowled him! Angelo Mathews to R Dravid, pitched up delivery, gets cleaned up after driving along the wrong line towards mid off, the ball came back to defeat him comprehensively.

Over 26.1: Bowled him! Angelo Mathews to M S Dhoni, good length delivery, goes for a forcing drive and ends up with a horrible inside edge that crashes onto his stumps.

Over 26.3: He is Caught! Angelo Mathews to Y Pathan, good length delivery, tries to play a forcing drive but the slower one kicks off the surface and brushes the glove on its way to the keeper.

Over 28.6: Bowled him! Angelo Mathews to Harbhajan, good length delivery, thats a dream fifer for Angelo, his off cutter sneaks past the defences of Harbhajan and crashes onto the stumps.

Over 30.2: Bowled him! Angelo Mathews to Ashish Nehra, short of length delivery, Nehra doesn’t even get behind the line and the ball skids through to disturb the off stump!

Over 30.4: Boundary! Angelo Mathews to I Sharma, short of length delivery, inside edges his drive which misses the stumps and runs away to the fine leg boundary.

Over 33.1: Boundary! A Mendis to I Sharma, flighted delivery, steps out and lofts it cleanly over mid off for a one bounce boundary.

Over 35.1: Boundary! A Mendis to R P Singh, flighted delivery, lofts it just over the top of mid on for a boundary.

Over 36.4: Boundary! T Thushara to R P Singh, pitched up delivery, makes room and plunders it down the ground past the non striker for a boundary.

Over 37.1: No runs. A Mendis to I Sharma, flighted delivery, nudges it to short thirdman. Funnily India has taken the batting powerplay.

Over 37.2: He is Caught! A Mendis to I Sharma, flighted delivery, steps out and lofts it straight into the hands of long on. Sri Lanka win by 139 runs.
