Himachal Pradesh seemed to have lost the match on Day 1 itself when they got bundled out for 125. But the hosts fought back immensely on the third and the fourth days to almost pull off a dramatic victory. In the end, Himachal Pradesh fell short of just the two wickets.
Resuming Day 4 on 360 for 7, Himachal went onto pile up 486 with no.9 Vikramjeet Malik smashing 72 with 5 sixes. That left Orissa to chase a target of 296 and they just escaped with a draw at 183 for 8. Ashok Thakur captured six wickets for HP.
