Tamil Nadu did a mistake of declaring its first innings at an overnight total of just 293 for 8 and paid for the gamble as hosts Himachal Pradesh eased to 291 for 4 in reply. Opener Bhavik Thakkar cracked 83 while middle order bats Vineet Indulkar (71) and Mukesh Sharma (68*) took Himachal closer to Tamil Nadu’s first innings total with their 135-run partnership for the 4th wicket.
