Hosts Hyderabad did all the hard work but in the end conceded a crucial 2-run first innings lead to Railways. The hosts resuming the third day’s play at 99 for 2 were bowled out for 303 in reply to Railways’ 305. Ambati Rayudu came good for Hyderabad with 73 while Laxman fell cheaply. Hyderabad at one stage were in deep trouble at 139 for 6. For Railways, Sanjay Bangar and Krishnakant Upadhyay took four wickets each.
