India begin on a positive note after SL’s 642

Mahela JayawardeneIndia have started their first innings on a positive note smashing 95 for no loss in just 18 overs by close on Day 2 at the SSC. Virender Sehwag has caned the Lankan attack for an unbeaten 64 from 63 balls with a dozen boundaries. Murali Vijay has looked solid at his end on an unbeaten 22 from 50 balls.

Earlier, Sri Lanka had declared its innings at 642 for 4 in 159.4 overs. Skipper Kumar Sangakkara scored his 7th double century, he made 219 in 335 balls with 29 fours before edging Sehwag’s off break to slip. Sangakkara added 193 runs for the 3rd wicket with Mahela Jayawardene, who went onto score 174 from 244 balls with 20 fours and a six. Thilan Samaraweera also got amongst the runs making an unbeaten 76 from 121 balls.
