Cricket Australia has stated that tomorrow’s 2-day match between Cricket Australia XI and the touring Indian team at the Adelaide Oval has been cancelled. The match was called off as Cricket Australia is in a grief period over the sad demise of international star Phillip Hughes this afternoon in Sydney.

India will go into the first Test at Gabba in Brisbane with only a short 2-day warm-up match at Adelaide. However, there will be no complaints from the tourists because of the extremely sad and shocking events that have shaken the world cricketing fraternity considering that Phil Hughes was very much an active international cricketer.

More than India, it will be the Australian team that will be adversely affected ahead of the Gabba Test as some of its players like David Warner, Brad Haddin and others were at the Sydney Cricket Ground when the late Phillip Hughes was struck with the fatal blow during a Sheffield Shield match on Tuesday. One will have to wait and watch if Cricket Australia goes ahead with the first Test at Brisbane which begins from the 4th of December.

It has been confirmed that the Indian team will only train in the Adelaide Oval nets on Friday but will remain out of the ground as a mark of respect to Phillip Hughes.
