Left handed middle order batsman Thilina Kandamby has been picked in the Test Squad for the upcoming India Tour. Kandamby whose batting has been compared with former Captain Arjuna Ranatunga has literally forced his way into the team following a couple of superb performances in the Compaq Cup and the Champions Trophy. In the One Day Squad, there is a comeback for fast bowler Dilhara Fernando after a lay off due to an injury, he couldn’t find a place in the Test Squad though. Dilhara has been named as a stand bye for the Test Squad.

Also named in the Test Squad is wicket-keeper batsman Kaushal Silva but he is likely to sit out because of the presence of Prasanna Jayawardene. Axed from the Test Squad are opener Malinda Warnapura and middle order bat Chamara Kapugedera. Another notable inclusion in the Test Squad is that of Wayamba’s left arm quick Chanaka Welegedara who does have a taste of international cricket having played a couple of years back. Lasith Malinga hasn’t yet found a place in the Test team but as expected is there in the T20I and the ODI Squads.

The Lankans arrive in Mumbai on the 8th of next month and kick start their tour with a 3-day match in the city followed up by three Tests, two T20Is and five ODIs.
