In a completely insignificant match of the tournament, Kolkata Knight Riders defeated an under strength Mumbai Indians by 9 wickets with 15 balls to spare at the Eden Gardens. The Knight Riders needed just 134 to win after the Mumbai Indians batsmen failed to deliver the goods on a slowish wicket. Brendon McCullum steered them through with an unbeaten 57 (from 56 balls) while putting on 97 for the first wicket with Ganguly (42 from 36 balls).

For Mumbai Indians, Saurabh Tiwary top scored with 46 from 37 balls. Dwayne Bravo captained the Mumbai Indians with Sachin Tendulkar taking a well deserved rest. The Man of the Match of the evening was KKR’s Murali Kartik who took 2 for 20 in 4 overs along with two catches.
