Suresh Raina ColomboThe Second Test at SSC, Colombo is heading towards a definite draw on the final day with no team having any chances of forcing a win. Sri Lanka toiled hard but got little rewards on the fourth day’s play as India went onto save the follow on first and a few hours after that overtook the hosts’ total of 642! A strong batting performance revolving around Sachin Tendulkar’s 5th double century saw India end the fourth day’s play at a mammoth 669 for 9 in 198 overs! Suresh Raina did his part as well scoring a century on Test Debut whilst Skipper MS Dhoni helped himself to 76.

By the time, Suresh Raina got out in the 141st over, Sri Lanka’s winning chances had diminished completely. Raina fell after making a classy 120 (from 228 balls with 12 fours and 2 sixes) but not before batting out about 70 overs in the company of Tendulkar. Dhoni joined his senior partner Tendulkar and straightaway meant business by going for his big shots. India raced away towards the Lankan total in a hurry. Tendulkar got out after scoring 203 (from 347 balls with 23 fours and a six) getting a bat pad edge off Dilshan which was caught by the alert wicket keeper – Prasanna Jayawardene.

India did extremely well to capture a lead thanks to a 51-run stand between MS Dhoni (76 from 138 balls with 7 fours) and Abhimanyu Mithun (41 from 97 balls with 4 fours). For the Lankans, Tillakaratne Dilshan proved to be lucky taking three wickets which included that of Tendulkar and Dhoni.
