The win of Cape Cobras over Victoria meant that the Royal Challengers Bangalore were out of the tournament. The homeside then played spoilsport for Delhi Daredevils by defeating them by 8 wickets with 29 balls to spare and in the process taking them out of the Champions League

At the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore, Delhi Daredevils were asked to bat first by birthday boy – Anil Kumble. Daredevils were off to a brisk start with Sehwag (47 from 29 balls with 6 fours and a six) at his best but once he was dismissed, the Challengers forced their way back into the game.  Delhi Daredevils settled for a moderate total of 138 for 6 in their allotted 20 overs. Anil Kumble did the damage for his side picking up the key wickets of Karthik, Dilshan and Owais Shah.

Royal Challengers Bangalore were put on the backfoot by the pace of Dirk Nannes but could come back strongly through the class of Rahul Dravid and Ross Taylor. It was a 93-run stand between these two for the 2nd wicket that robbed the game away from Daredevils. Taylor smashed his way to a 38-ball 65 that had 6 fours and 4 sixes. Dravid played a few brilliant shots in his unbeaten 32 from 26 balls. Virat Kohli had some fun as well with an unbeaten 10-ball 24. On the bowling front, it was an absolute nightmare for both Glenn McGrath (2-0-25-0) and Amit Mishra (4-0-59-0).
