Sri Lanka batting first after winning the toss are at 117 for 1 in 27 overs at Lunch on Day 1 of the third Test at Mumbai. The visitors got off to a strokeful start with plenty of boundaries coming on a quick outfield at the Brabourne Stadium.

Tharanga Paranavitana cracked his maiden test fifty outside Sri Lanka and got out just when he was looking very good. Harbhajan Singh provided the much needed breakthrough in the 20th over with a tossed up off break that lured the left hander into a big drive. Harbhajan got the ball to turn away sharply to induce an edge which was safely taken at slip by Dravid. Paranavitana scored 53 (from 81 balls with 7 fours) in an opening stand of 93 with Dilshan.

India after getting its first wicket got control of the game through the spin of Harbhajan and Pragyan Ojha. Both bowlers have started to get the ball to turn sharply with extra bounce. Tillakaratne Dilshan is hanging in there with an unbeaten 51 (from 63 balls with 7 fours and a six) along with Skipper Kumar Sangakkara who is on 10 from 20 balls. Dilshan’s six was from a pull shot off Sreesanth. Harbhajan Singh has been the saviour for India with 8-1-19-1 and Ojha is catching up very well because of the turn.

The two pacers – Zaheer and Sreesanth have been inconsistent with their lengths but have found swing in the air and carry from the wicket to remain interested.
