Sri Lanka stormed into the Semi Finals of the ICC World Twenty20 2010 by defeating India at Gros Iset. Batting first, India struggled to reach 163 for 5 and needed to restrict Sri Lanka to less than 143 and also depend on West Indies losing to Australia for a backdoor entry in the Semis. For most part of the second innings, India looked good in defeating Sri Lanka but towards the end even went onto lose the match though the equation was three to get from the final ball.

The top performer for India was Suresh Raina who scored 63 from 47 balls with 7 fours and a six. Gautam Gambhir worked his way to 41 from 32 balls. For the Sri Lankans, the duo of Angelo Mathews (46 from 37 balls) and Chamara Kapugedera (37* from 16 balls) clinched the chase. Skipper Kumar Sangakkara (46 from 33 balls) and Tillakaratne Dilshan (33 from 26 balls) laid the foundation.
