Struggling Sourav gets one last chance against Pakistan to impress

Sourav Ganguly, the former Indian Skipper who is trying to find his feet in the English County is facing his biggest test of recent times as he prepares to play against Pakistan. Northamptonshire will be taking on Pakistan in the three-day match starting from today at the County Ground. The county’s overseas star player, Sourav Ganguly has so far failed to consistently deliver the goods and live to his class and reputation. However, he is expected to come good in this match considering the importance of this match in his career. He would be taking inspiration from another Indian batsman playing in the English County who has struck a magnificent unbeaten hundred against Pakistan few days back and that was Dinesh Mongia.

Ganguly has so far played two four-day games and has failed to reach double figures in the four innings. His Twenty20 performance has been just moderate, but his overall performance in the first class games he has played ever since losing his India Captaincy has been excellent but not good enough for the Indian Selectors to include him in the Indian Side. Ganguly’s stint with the Northants is coming to an end next month with Chris Rogers, the man whom he had replaced returning back after the completion of the Australian A Team commitments. Meanwhile Pakistan would be looking to field as many fringe players in their line up in this match and Abdul Razzaq is going to miss this game after straining his back during the final day’s play of the 1st Test at Lord’s.
