Hosts Zimbabwe stung India in the opening game of the Tri-Series Micromax Cup with a smart six-wicket win. Rohit Sharma’s maiden ODI century went in vain as India failed to defend a reasonably good total of 285. Brendan Taylor (81) and debutant Craig Ervine (67* from 60 balls) were the stars for Zimbabwe in the run chase.

For India, Rohit Sharma did the rescue act pulling India out of woods from 61 for 3 with an impressive knock of 114 from 119 balls (with 6 fours and 4 sixes). The other batsman coming good was Ravindra Jadeja who scored an unbeaten run-a-ball 61.

Zimbabwe got the runs in 48.2 overs thanks to a solid opening start of 88 from Hamilton Masakadza (46) with Man of the Match – Brendan Taylor. Charles Coventry (32 from 25 balls) and Skipper Elton Chigumbura (24* from 16 balls) helped Ervine clinch the game with their cameos.
