Sachin Tendulkar Mumbai IndiansMumbai Indians had a comfortable 7-wicket win over Kolkata Knight Riders at the Brabourne Stadium. The Knight Riders once again lost out because of their ultra cautious approach with the bat though their bowlers tried to make a match of a smallish total of 155. Tendulkar anchored the Mumbai Indians to a smooth win by staying till the end.

Chris Gayle playing his first match of the season batted all the overs to come up with 75 from 60 balls (with 7 fours and 2 sixes). It was a terribly slow innings for his standards! His opening partner Sourav Ganguly batted out 34 balls to make only 31 as the Knight Riders went along at just over 6.00 RPO in the first 10 overs! Despite having wickets in hand, they could come up with just 155 for 3 having won the toss. Harbhajan Singh was the best bowler for Mumbai Indians with 1 for 17 in 4 overs.

The hosts got off to a breezy start with 61 on the board in 6.5 overs. Man of the Match Sachin Tendulkar consolidated his start to remain unbeaten on 71 from 48 balls with 10 fours. Saurabh Tiwary (30 from 24 balls) and Rajagopal Satish (21* from 11 balls) played the catalysts’ role to perfection. Knight Riders could drag the match only because of their spinners especially Murali Kartik. Sourav Ganguly picked up two smart catches, one of them was a leaping one handed catch at extra covers.
