Tendulkar provoked by Manjrekar’s article

Sachin Tendulkar and Sanjay Manjrekar are having a war of words following a bold column written by the latter which was titled ‘Sachin, don’t be afraid of failure’ for a leading Indian Newspaper, TOI. Manjrekar had written that Tendulkar gave the impression that his main focus is not to fail and he wants to give himself the best shot at that. The former Indian middle order batsman was suggesting that sometimes the injury timings in Sachin Tendulkar’s career were rather strange and he had given few examples like the Super Series in Australia which Tendulkar had missed.

A provoked Tendulkar has expressed his surprise over the comments in the article and said that he is sorry that a former Indian player has made statements without checking the facts and making them without being anywhere close to the dressing room and knowing the true situation. Tendulkar has got the support from the Indian Team Physio, John Gloster who has played down the statements appearing in this article as a result of Sanjay Manjrekar’s poor understanding of sports medicine, sports science and player management. Gloster has also said that Sachin had played with pain in some of the matches proving that the country was important for him more than his body.
