The third and final One Day International between India and Australia at Margao has been abandoned due to wet ground conditions. With this it is the end of a wet tour of India for the Aussies who failed to win even a single match. But for their defence, this tour was just too short with only Two Tests and Three ODIs. Two of the three ODIs have been washed out due to rain and unfit ground conditions following that.

In between the two washed out ODIs was an exciting day/night contest at Vizag which was won by India to result in a 1-0 Series win. The third match today could have been possible with absolutely no rain since morning to noon but the damage was already done on the ground by yesterday night’s heavy showers and the rains that were hitting the city in the last few days making the outfield very soft indeed. The Nehru Stadium here didn’t have a proper drainage system as well to compound to the problems.

The Goa Cricket Association had declared that it would refund the tickets if the match was abandoned due to rain. The match was called off just before 1:00 PM much to the disappointment of the huge crowd that had turned out with the Indian flags.
