R Vinay Kumar of KarnatakaDefending Champions Mumbai are in trouble having got packed up for just 233 on the opening day’s play of the 5-day Ranji Trophy Final against Karnataka at Mysore. Electing to bat first having won the toss, Mumbai were rocked by medium pacers – R Vinay Kumar (4 for 61) and Abhimanyu Mithun (3 for 56).

Mumbai at one point of time were at a miserable 106 for 6. They got to the modest total thanks to Wicket Keeper Vinayak Samant’s 67 and Iqbal Abdulla’s 30. Mumbai continued their fightback by getting rid of explosive opener and Skipper Robin Uthappa by Stumps. Karnataka finished the day’s play at 15 for 1 and need atleast one solid day’s batting to consolidate their chances of clinching the title. They are without Rahul Dravid who will embark on the Bangladesh Tour.
