The Indian Government has decided to honour VVS Laxman with the Padma Shri award in tomorrow’s Republic Day Ceremony.

The Padma Shri is the fourth highest civilian award in India and last year it was Opener Virender Sehwag who was one of the recipients of this honour.

The 36-yeard-old VVS Laxman has played some great knocks under pressure in the recent Tests against Australia and South Africa.

There is also news that Sachin Tendulkar’s name has been recommended for the ‘Bharat Ratna’ which is the highest ever civilian award in the country.
