In a shocking development on Friday, the West Indies touring team in India has decided to pull off from the remainder of the tour and fly back to the Caribbean. This sad news emerged during the 4th ODI at Dharamsala which was also the last match of the tour because of the drastic development in the stand-off between the West Indies Cricket Board and its senior team.

The BCCI soon got its act right to come up with a 5-match ODI Series against neighbours Sri Lanka which will be played between November 1st to 15th. The Indian Cricket Board is also looking to sue the WICB for not fulfilling its commitment of playing the full tour.

The casualty of the West Indian players’ stand-off with their board is the cancellation of the 5th ODI at Kolkata, the only T20I at Cuttack and three Test matches at Hyderabad, Bangalore and Ahmedabad along with a 3-day tour game against the Indian Board President’s XI at Kanpur.

On the eve of the match, the West Indies’ team ganged up behind their Captain Dwayne Bravo during the toss time. Fortunately there was no on the spot from the West Indies time which could have resulted in the paying spectators possibly venting out their ire in the beautiful HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala. It is reported that HPCA President and also Member of Parliament Anurag Thakur had successfully got the West Indian players to fulfill their commitment of playing the 4th ODI.

Of course, the West Indian players showed a kind of disinterest atleast in the first half on the field, putting down easy catches and the fast bowlers only bowling within themselves with the exception of Andre Russell. With the bat, the West Indian players showed better attitude but the top ensured put up a ridiculously slow batting show to ensure that India defended its huge total.

The West Indies players have been fighting regarding their new payment structure with their board and have been in war with their players’ association President and CEO – former international cricketer Wavell Hinds of misleading them in the matter.
