Mamatha Maben – Profile and Interview

Mamatha Maben is the present India Women’s captain and has started her captaincy stint in great style with a series win over New Zealand Women.

Mamatha Maben is an aggressive middle order batswoman and combined with that her useful medium pace .Maben was born on 15th November , 1970 in Bangalore. At the age of 17 years she was picked for the Karnataka team and from then 6 years of good performances got her included in the World Cup squad – Women’s World Cup 1993 in England . Interestingly Anju Jain and Purnima Rau also happened to make their debut in the same match as Maben – India Women playing against West Indies Women at Nottingham.

Some of the best performances by Maben include her 50 at Paarl against South Africa in the one – test series in 2000/01 and an unbeaten 53 against England Women at Hyderabad in 2001/02 ODI series.
