Australia consolidated their chances of winning the second and final Test at Hamilton after a strong batting show on the third day. The visitors stretched their second innings total to 333 for 4 to reach a handsome lead of 300. Simon Katich followed his first innings 88 with 106. Shane Watson (65) and Michael Hussey (67) put up the big partnerships with Katich to frustrate the Kiwis.
