After a crushing 138-run defeat, the Kiwis bounced back unexpectedly in the second ODI with a 64-run to level the 3-ODI Series. In the second ODI yesterday, the Black Caps were led to a good total of 303 for 8 thanks to a responsible knock of 131 (in 129 balls) from Brendon McCullum. Martin Guptill with 62 and Daniel Vettori with 30 supported him at two important phases of the NZ innings.

Pakistan batting failed in pursuit of 304. Despite having wickets in hand, they could never achieve any momentum because of the top three batsmen not showing any urgency which included the Skipper Younis Khan, who struggled with a 37-ball 19. Scott Styris picked up three wickets in a hurry to put Pakistan out of contest as they folded to 239 only. Salman Butt top scored in 59 (in 81 balls) which wasn’t helpful at all for his team in chasing a total of 300 plus.
